Your Responsibilities as a UG Fitter:

  1. Health & Safety First: Ensure a safe working environment for everyone on-site.
  2. Mechanical Maintenance: Inspect, diagnose, and repair various underground machines, reporting to the Underground Maintenance Supervisor.
  3. Equipment Safety: Keep all mobile equipment safe and cost-effective.
  4. Efficient Maintenance Planning: Prepare and execute maintenance schedules, aligning with daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
  5. Cost Control: Maintain a balanced budget without compromising quality.
  6. Prompt Repairs: Act swiftly to repair and maintain mine equipment.
  7. Cost-Effective Maintenance: Minimize disruptions to operations and control costs.
  8. Safety Leadership: Lead by example, address unsafe situations, and foster proactive safety practices.
  9. Hazard Identification: Recognize hazards and use Job Safety Analysis (JSA) to address them.
  10. Support Investigations: Assist in accident investigations and train new team members.

Qualifications You’ll Need:

  1. A trade qualification in mechanical or a Technician Certificate from a recognized institution.
  2. Mechanical Trade Certification preferred.

Experience and Skills That Set You Apart:

  1. At least 5 years of post-apprenticeship experiencewith underground mobile fleets.
  2. Experience with Sandvik and Caterpillar machines is highly valued.
  3. Skilled in rebuild and servicing of underground mining mobile equipment.
  4. Strong communication skills—you’ll be working with people from all backgrounds.
